Staffs TV to host UK Eurovision student music contest

Stoke of Genius:

UK wide live music competition NaSTAvision is coming to Staffordshire University later this month.

The Eurovision style contest is for student television stations across the country and will take place on January 30 at the Stafford Campus.

Staffs TV, along with Southampton Solent University’s Sonar TV, will host and film the free public event for its first ever broadcast.

Live acts will be performing at the Staffordshire University Students’ Union venue Legends and presenters will be in the TV Studio.

NaSTA, the National Student Television Association, which has supported student television for over 40 years, oversees the competition.

One act from each university will represent their student TV channel.

Co-presenter Naina Rishiraj said: “I'm looking forward to the event incredibly! As an aspiring presenter this is a great experience and stepping stone for me.

"The fact that the event is live is also an inviting challenge for me, although nerve-racking too!

"This is the first time I will be working with Staffs TV and they seem like a professional organisation and I'm very excited to work with them.

"I think Staffs have been chosen because they have a great journalism and media department," added Naina. "We have great resources here that we can make the most of."
