Single Review: Borders – Aware of You

Borders - Aware of You
Stoke of Genius:

Released: Independent, Aug 21, 2013

The last ever release from the talented indie four-piece Borders is a powerful send-off to a short-lived career.

'Aware of You' begins with a punchy, fast-paced intro, soon slowed down by Greg Poole's recognisable vocals in a relaxed verse. There's a strong build-up to the chorus as Poole poignantly questions 'which way do we turn, before we crash and burn?'

You can always rely on Borders to provide an impressive climax. An excellent bridge solo from lead guitarist Joe Shenton alongside haunting backing vocals and a wonderfully crafted crashing down from drummer Luke Woodward and bassist Josh Leech leaves the band on a high note.

Three and a half years after forming, the band have decided to part ways and it's a great shame as these boys had serious potential. Keep an eye out for any side projects they might throw your way.
