The Make Kony Famous 2012 campaign will see Stoke-on-Trent plastered with posters, banners and flyers overnight.
The 'Cover the Night' event aims to make Kony a household name and is taking place across the globe on Friday April 20.
Ugandan guerrilla leader Joseph Kony is set for worldwide infamy after forcing children to kill their parents.
For
the past 26 years the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) has murdered,
raped, abducted and harmed children.
Jason
Russell, of Invisible Children, has produced a 30-minute video
detailing the actions of the Kony 2012 campaign. It has taken the
world by storm the past three days, being watched by over 39 million
people on YouTube.
Stoke-on-Trent's
'Cover the Night' organiser, Jake Morgan, 18, said: “Any caring
human being should feel sad and outraged.
“He's killing thousands of people, including many many children, and that's after he's forced them to do terrible things!”

Invisible
Children is a movement aiming to use the Kony 2012 campaign to stop
the abduction of children for use as child soldiers.
“I
didn't even think we'd get 100 people, let alone over a 1000. I think
it's great that I've found so many amazing people who want to make a
difference from Stoke and we aren't just leaving it to everyone
else.”
Jake
has recently started the non-profit organisation Fix The World
(S-O-T) to help less fortunate people.
In
order for Kony to be captured, continued support is needed from the
US government.
Co-organiser of the event’s worldwide Facebook page, Oscar Shao, said: “Letting the public know who Kony is and what he has done is key to our final goal. As long as they are aware of his malicious actions, there is no doubt they will be against him.”
Invisible Children has been criticised for its distribution of donations.
“The critiques are irrelevant to our motives,” said Oscar. “While they argue that Invisible Children misuse their spent money, the organization is still helping the cause to stop Kony for good.
“The goal for our event is not to raise money and send them to IC, but to spread awareness.
“We only ignited the flame. We cannot control where the fire spreads.”
Administrators of the main Facebook event include Eric Shao, Lauren Studebaker, Arisa Toyosaki, Sara Ras, and Kentaro Ishihara.
